“a body of work” by the Blackstone Printmakers

The Blackstone Print Studio was founded with the desire to create a printing space for artists in the Greater Worcester community. The studio provides both space and the use of two presses - critical printmaking needs often unavailable or prohibitively expensive for the individual artist. Founded by Nina Fletcher in 1996, the Blackstone Print Studio intends to "spread the word about the delights of printmaking as an art-form," and to invite printmakers to come together to share their methods, insights, and passion for printmaking.

The central piece in "a body of work" will be comprised of 30 individual monotype prints of body parts by the Blackstone Printers. Each printer's individual monotypes and monoprints are open-ended explorations of the body. Beyond the use of a uniform plate size and simplified palette, the printer is invited to break out and explore all forms, textures, dimensions, and media that gives life and expression to the artists' selected body parts. The individual prints will be installed together as one "body of work." The exhibition will also present examples of each printer's current individual work.

ARTSWorcester Aurora Gallery hours: Tuesdays and Saturdays 1:00 to 4:00 pm, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. Extended hours are available by appointment. Gallery is closed Sunday and Monday. Free and open to the public.
