Final Season Auditions for all levels of Choirs
Wednesdays, 8/4/2010 - 8/25/2010 6:30 PM-8:30 PM
Assumption College: Kennedy Memorial Hall/Public Safety, 105, 500 Salisbury Street, Worcester, MA
- No fee to audition; reasonable annual membership fee for training/rehearsals/performances
The Worcester Childrens Chorus is pleased to announce that additional audition dates have been added for young singers interested in the 2010-2011 season. The artistic directors have received an overwhelming response for the spring audition dates and have scheduled a number of new audition dates.
Singers (ages 8-18) are selected by audition and pay a modest tuition to participate. Scholarships have also been offered to families on a financial needs basis. The chorus resides on the campus of Assumption College. This program is supported in part by a grant from the Auburn cultural council, a local agency which is supported by the Massachusetts Cultural council, a state agency. It was formed under the auspices of the Master Singers of Worcester. Rehearsals are held on Wednesday evenings from 6:30 8:00 P.M and are directed by Jennifer Kane, and Philip Montgomery.
In prior seasons, the chorus has performed in seasonal concerts as well as at the Boars Head Festival, Worcester Art Museum, HArts and Hope for Haiti at the Hanover Theatre, and at many other venues during its two year history.
The upcoming season will be marked by the addition of two new levels of choir as well as wonderful opportunities to sing with other Massachusetts choruses (both children's and adult) and to perform a specially commissioned choral piece.
The mission of the Worcester Childrens Chorus is to enrich the lives of children throughout Worcester County by providing a quality musical experience through training in choral singing. Membership offers professional-level instruction in vocal technique, music theory, sight singing, ear training, and presentation as well as exposure to a variety of choral styles. Involvement also enhances young peoples lives, helping them to develop qualities of self-reliance, personal integrity, responsibility, compassion, and confidence in their abilities.
Additional information about the Worcester Childrens Chorus may be found on-line at www.worcesterchildrenschorus.com. Contact the director to schedule an audition.
