Worcester Area Community Choir

Open to all singers of any ability or level of experience with the desire to sing and willingness to learn with others.
Led by composer, guitarist Jim Scott, the non-audition choir will learn primarily by ear with written music to help,
and sing many styles of choral music from rounds and chants to classical, jazz, world folk music from many cultures
as well as contemporary popular music that celebrates ideals of community, diversity, ecology and peace.
The choir will rehearse Tuesdays for a 10 week term working toward performing on Earth Day and other Community events.
Suggested donation membership fee to cover rehearsals and notebook of music.

Worcester has always been known for its lively music scene and its ability to nurture artists of all genres. This photo competition and exhibition is a dynamic and unique snapshot of the music scene of the area, highlighting both photographic as well as musical talents. This exhibition of local work will be on view April 6 - May 14.

Winners of this juried competition will be presented with cash awards on Thursday, April 8th, at the opening reception.

ALWAYSPATSY CLINE
Written and originally directed by Ted Swindley  based on a true story

AlwaysPatsy Cline tells the true story of the special friendship between two women, one a rising star and the other a devoted fan, over a pot of strong coffee in Louises kitchen and through letters and phone calls shared until Patsys untimely death. Re-live the magic through the songs that made Patsy Cline a pop and country music legend: Crazy, Sweet Dreams, Walkin After Midnight, I Fall to Pieces, and many more.

Where? Mount Wachusett Community College, room 182
When? Tuesday, April 6 and Wednesday, April 7 at 7PM sharp  be prepared to stay until 10pm. If needed, callbacks will be held on Thursday, April 8.

AUDITIONS: Bring picture and resume, if available.

Patsy: Sing one song (country song preferred) of approx 24 bars. If song is not from the show, bring your own sheet music. Reading from script.

Louise: Reading one or two speeches from the script. Sides will be provided at auditions, and will be available at the box office 2 weeks before the auditions. A short musical piece from any genre to show general ability. If song is not from the show, bring your own sheet music. Louise doesnt sing much, but does harmonize with Patsy.

Punctuality will be noted and appreciated

Cast Requirements: 2 adult women

Performance Dates: June 18, 19, 25, 26 at 8:00pm; June 27 at 2:00pm

Tentative Rehearsal Schedule: Sundays, 2  5pm or 6  9pm (subject to change); Monday and Wednesday evenings 7  10pm. Rehearsals begin Sunday, May 2.

The Worcester Childrens Chorus announces auditions for the 2010-2011 season (Assumption College Only)

Founded in September of 2008, The Worcester Childrens Chorus offers children ages 10 through 18 an opportunity to sing choral music ranging from Classical to Gospel. Singers are selected by audition and pay a modest tuition to participate. Scholarships have also been offered to families on a financial needs basis. Current membership includes singers from: Grafton, Holden, Hubbardston, Jefferson, Lancaster, North Brookfield, Northborough, Oxford, Paxton, Shrewsbury, Sturbridge, Westborough, and Worcester.

The mission of the Worcester Childrens Chorus is to enrich the lives of children throughout Worcester County by providing a quality musical experience through training in choral singing. Membership offers professional-level instruction in vocal technique, music theory, sight singing, ear training, and presentation as well as exposure to a variety of choral styles. Involvement also enhances young peoples lives, helping them to develop qualities of self-reliance, personal integrity, responsibility, compassion, and confidence in their abilities.

The Chorus is a program of the Master Singers of Worcester and resides on the campus of Assumption College. Rehearsals are held on Wednesday evenings from 6:30  8:00 P.M.

In 2009, the Worcester Childrens Chorus added a new choir to its program. The Da Capo training choir is open to boys and girls aged approximately 9  11 who have little or no previous choral experience. Plans for the 2010-2011 season include the addition of a tour chorus which will provide additional performance opportunities and challenging repertoires for the most advanced members.

Call for Artist and Artisans - Open Show

The Sprinkler Factory, Gallery - Second Floor, 38 Harlow Street, Worcester, MA - Jury Fee for artwork is $10 per entry
All artists draw from each other for inspiration and guidance. The artists at the Sprinkler Factory are no exception! The Sprinkler Factory is an emerging artists colony located in the heart of Worcester. The Sprinkler Factory houses a diverse group of artisans ranging from painters to potters and everything in between.

In celebration of the buildings rich history and promising future, the newly formed Artists Group is sponsoring its first Open Show. In addition to resident artists of the Sprinkler Factory, the group would like to extend an invitation to all artists in the Worcester area.

Theme:
Symbiotic Relationships - Inspiration drawn from the Sprinkler Factory! All work must originate from inspiration drawn from either (1) a resident artists work, if you are a non-resident artist, (2) from another resident artists work, if you are a resident artist, or (3) from the Sprinkler Factory itself. As part of the application, the artist must briefly explain the creative origin. Please do not allow the theme to intimate; the theme can be broadly interperted. So, be creative!

Non-resident artists are invited to visit the Sprinkler Factory for inspiration. The buildings web site posts driving instructions, gallery hours, and up-coming events. The first Saturday of every month, the resident artists open their studio doors to the public from noon- 4 PM. This would be a good opportunity to visit the building and meet the resident artists.

Dates:
Completed entry forms are due by noon May 1, 2010. The form can be found at www.SprinklerFactory.com.

Notification of acceptance will be by May 6th, 2010. All accepted work MUST be hand-delivered to the second floor Sprinkler Factory Gallery on the weekend of May 8th-9th, during gallery hours.

The show will run from May 14th through May 30th. The grand opening for the show is scheduled for May 15th from 8:00-10:30 PM.

The show closes May 30th and artists MUST pick-up artwork by June 5, 2010.

Media:
All media are welcome as long as the piece meets the sprit of the theme. Media may include, but is not limited to oil, pastel, acrylic, watercolor, and mixed element media, photography, sculpture, fine art crafts, fabric and fibers as well as jewelry. All work must be suitably displayable in a fine art gallery!

Suggested Work Limitations:
Two-Dimensional
In order to accommodate as many artists as possible, the suggested size limitation is 48 maximum width and height including frame. All paintings, photographs and two-dimensional works must be suitably framed or prepared for a fine art gallery and ready to hang.

Three-Dimensional
In order to accommodate as many artists as possible, the suggested dimension limitation is 40 high x 24 wide, excluding base and a weight limit of 150 lb. If needed, the artist should be prepared to provide a pedestal.

Jury Fee: - $10 per entry
Resident Artists
All residence artists of the Sprinkler Factory may submit up to three pieces for consideration. Resident artists are guaranteed at least one piece accepted into the show, assuming it meets the theme and limitations of the show guidelines. The first submission for resident artist is free, additional submissions require the $10 jury fee.

Non-Resident Artist
All non-resident artists may submit up to three pieces for consideration and each submission must be accompanied by the $10 jury fee.

No cash or credit card orders will be accepted! Please make your check out to AGSF in the amount required, i.e., $10 per submission. AGSF stands for the Artists Group of the Sprinkler Factory and is a non-profit organization.

Sales:
A commission fee of 20% will be charged on all sales related to the exhibition.

Entry Requirements for Jury:
Two-Dimensional
No slides will be accepted. All work must be submitted on CD or e-mailed using a JPEG format.
1. On each CD, print your name, medium, and work. Only submitted work should be on the CD.
2. Provide a WORD document (1) describing your piece as it relates to the theme of the show and (2) a brief a biography. If accepted, your write-up will be displayed alongside your piece.
3. Provide the Sprinkler Factory entry form with your CD and a check covering the jury fee.
4. Include a self-addressed envelope, if you wish your CD returned.
5. A drop-off box will be provided at the front door of the Sprinkler Factory at 38 Harlow Street for those artists that do not wish to use US mail service.

1. E-mail your JPEG image and WORD document to SprinklerFactoryArtShow@gmail.com.
2. In your e-mail, also include your (1) Name, (2) Contact information, (3) Title of your piece, (4) The media, (5) Price of the piece or NFS.
