Nature - A World of Answers

Answers. My photography is a journey for answers. I like to reflect on the meaning of life and the things I value the most. I have found the answers I am looking for in the smallest things, in a microcosm of detail, usually in a very limited area. I am inspired by the complexities of the world and the fundamental beauty that exists in it. The detail in my photography reflects my own life, and interprets the world around me in a comprehensive way.  But things are not always what they seem and I try to figure out the existential puzzle.

Nature in its perfect harmony is always offering unique, unequal moments. From the smallest part to the whole, I perceive how magnificent and perfect is the fountain of love that makes all systems work.

My work is a study about meanings that are so close and within our reach. Given time to stop, look, feel and reflect, nature offers examples, answers to questions every one can seek inside themselves.”

Nature - A World of Answers shows photographs from six specific bodies of work:

Green Forms (2004) is a series of twenty negative color photographs about the possibilities of change, renewal and growth. I developed this presentation by exploring the detail in a very limited area of a Passion Fruit climbing plant in its natural habitat in Brazil.

Constructions (2005)  is composed of two series: Orange “Exteriors” and Rose “Interiors”, which illustrates a relativity we are all subjected to, which in turn inspires us to reflect on both, the external physical matter, and the internal essence of life.

In the game between form and essence, exterior and interior, Constructions is an essay of the infinite possibilities present in the material world, which says something about what is true and false, concrete and imaginary. Everything is a question of interpretation. The ugly as much as the beautiful depends on the point of sight, a different position yields a different point of view.

Rhapsody of Hearts  (2009)  is an ongoing series that explores the details of Bleeding Heart flowers, which generates a feeling of rebirth. In this experience, the flowers move and change under special conditions and create a connection between myself and the subject. Rhapsody of Hearts  is a study about emotions, love and relationships.

Simple Beauty  (2009)  is an ongoing series of in-studio photographs that focus on the grace, harmony, and the texture of flowers. Very often the enchantment of simplicity exceeds the complexities of life.

In Another Dimension  (2010)  is an ongoing series of ice that explores the details of its own transformation under natural sunlight and fire. In this experiment a conversation between myself and the subject develops, which gives me the answers I’m seeking.

This work shows that there are more things behind the scene than I can see...but to see them I just have to open my mind because when the ice of the indifference and ignorance finally melts, it shows there is another world behind the material one... it is a study of another dimension, the spiritual and the psychological. You can see what you feel, what is going on inside you and also the vibrations that surround you.

Creation, being unique in its supreme intelligence, gives us the opportunity to co-create from the self to the external world.

World of Flowers - Iris Series  (2011)  is an ongoing series of in studio photographs that focus on the grace, texture and language of flowers. In their own world, with their own language, flowers always have something to show or say.
