Biennial 2011 Opening Reception will take place Friday, March 18, 2011 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at ARTSWorcester’s Aurora Gallery located at 660 Main Street, Worcester, MA. This event is free and open to the public and will feature refreshments and live music by Gamble and Burke (Kaz Gamble and Dan Burke). Parking for the evening is available at the Federal Square Parking Garage at 570 Main Street, 2 blocks north of ARTSWorcester across from the Hanover Theatre.
Biennial 2011, the 15th annual Biennial Exhibition at ARTSWorcester, is an exciting survey of the regional contemporary art scene and one of the largest juried exhibitions in Central Massachusetts. This exhibition features some of the finest work created by established and emerging local visual artists and serves as a wonderful opportunity to have their work judged by an outstanding professional curator. This year over 280 artworks entered for consideration and 93 were chosen. The Biennial 2011 juror is Patricia Hickson, who is the Emily Hall Tremaine Curator of Contemporary Art at the Wadsworth Atheneum in Hartford, Connecticut.

Artwork on exhibit in Biennial 2011 includes the categories of painting, photography, works-on-paper, sculpture, mixed media, computer art, and crafts. Cash awards in the amount of $2,550 are provided through the generous support of the Worcester Art Museum through its Hoche-Scofield Prize and Scholarship Fund. Biennial 2011 is funded in part by the Worcester Arts Council in accordance with the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency and by The George F. and Sybil H. Fuller Foundation.
