A gallery walk with the artist will be held from 6:30 – 7:00 pm that evening. This occasion is free and open to the public and will feature refreshments and music The Painted Image is an exploration by ARTSWorcester member Tom Grady, capturing moments in a modern bombardment of images, and trying to make sense of it all. “These images attempt to freeze time and preserve a moment while simultaneously alluding to the futility of the task,” Mr. Grady explains. “Through the various layers there is a disruption to the seamless interpretation of reality. They are images within an image. This confusion becomes symbolic to the paintings’ meaning.” The old European masters of the 16th and 17th century influence Mr. Grady, who uses charcoal drawings and oil paintings to try to assuage this confusion. “In this pluralistic culture there is an overwhelming bombardment of images from T.V., the web, advertising, movies, magazines, and so on. Within the painted image is a search for understanding and meaning in this modern oblivion.” Gallery hours: The ARTSWorcester/QCC Hall Gallery hours are Monday–Friday, 9:00am–7:00pm; it is located in the main hallway of the Administrative Building at Quinsigamond Community College, and is free and open to the public.
