ARTSWorcester invites you to join us for the opening reception of the “Second Annual Worcester Consortium College Art Show” on Friday, February 24, 2006 from 6:00–9:00 p.m. in the ARTSWorcester Gallery at the Aurora Hotel at 660 Main Street, Worcester. Refreshments will be offered.

“Second Annual Worcester Consortium College Art Show” a juried group exhibition culled from among students of the Worcester Consortium College include works in mixed media, photography, fiber, works on paper, sculpture, and painting. This exhibition, which began in 2005, highlights the wealth of artistic talent which exists within our local college community. Among those institutions participating are: Anna Marie College, Assumption College, Clark University, College of the Holy Cross, Quinsigamond Community College, and Worcester State College.

Out of over 175 works entered for the show, 45 pieces were chosen by jurors Susan Stoops of the Worcester Art Museum and Randi Hopkins of Allston Skirt Gallery, Boston. Prizes were awarded: 1st Prize ($250) to Jessica Kingston of Assumption College for her painting “Sweet November”; 2nd Prize ($150) to Mary Martin of Holy Cross for her painting “Sunday”; and a Jurors’ Honorable Mentions to David Howland of Clark University for his photographs “Weather Control” and “ 3 am Gardening” and to Nick Gennetti of Worcester State College for his handmade book “Perry the Maple.”

  • The ARTSWorcester Aurora Gallery is free and open to the public.
  • The ARTSWorcester Aurora Gallery hours at the Aurora are: Tuesdays and Saturdays 1:00 to 4:00 p.m., Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Extended hours are available by appointment. The gallery is closed Sunday and Monday.
