WORCESTER, MA: ARTSWorcester presents “From Here to There” and “zero six”, two new exhibitions at the Aurora Gallery exploring the range of ARTSWorcester members:

Upstairs at the Aurora Gallery:

From Here to There

an exhibition of paintings by Cynthia Woehrle and Scott Holloway

“From Here to There” is an exhibition of works by painters Cynthia Woehrle and Scott Holloway. Working in oil, Ms. Woehrle creates panoramic skyscapes; painted on carved panels, triptychs and canvas, all of which present a window to the exploration of light in atmosphere. A well-known portrait painter, Mr. Holloway also creates “more esoteric” traditional figurative oil paintings. Both are oil painters inspired by the techniques from the Renaissance era. Ms. Woehrle’s landscapes, transitioning from the imagined to the actual, draw from the works of Turner, Corot, and Millet. Mr. Holloway’s drawings are influenced by Leonardo DaVinci and Vesalius’ anatomical studies and relate historical and biblical symbols. More information is available at their website: www.Paintingloft.com.

Downstairs at the Aurora Gallery:

zero six

“zero six” is an exhibition examining the work of j.me johnston, ken phoenix, brian goodhue, and wayne jacques; four visual artists who are redefining contemporary art through art objekts ranging from interstellar intermedia interfusion to interdimensional surrealism to electronically altered photo imagery. The opening evening reception includes sound art by collison sect and performance art by industrial sonic echo and special guest Jenn Vix.

A special performance evening will be held on Saturday October 14, 2006 from 7 to 10:00 p.m. downstairs at the Aurora Gallery featuring dramatic readings of Shakespeare and Edgar Allen Poe by george sampson, performance art by industrial sonic echo, and aural experiments by bob jordan and ratobasher with special guests.
