ARTSWorcester invites you to join us for the Opening Reception of “East Meets West” on Tuesday, May 9, 5:30 – 7:30pm in the QCC/ARTSWorcester Gallery in the Administrative Building at Quinsigamond Community College, 670 West Boylston Street, Worcester. A gallery walk with the artist will be held from 6:00 – 6:30 p.m. that evening.

“East Meets West” is a balance between traditional Chinese Brush painting and the use of the technique and materials to depict modern western ideas. There are two types of brush paintings; “ free style” and “ fine line”. Each has a long and noble history beginning at turn of the Common Era. For the Chinese artist who paints in the Free Style manner, the addition of poetry is often desired.

The paintings in this exhibit are a unique combination of western impressionism and the open expressionist sense of the oriental “free” style. The emotional, spiritual component is present in both. Work includes Chinese and western landscapes, traditional and modern flower and insects, and traditional horses, and birds.
