ARTSWorcester in collaboration with Centro Las Americas is pleased to present Viva el Arte 2005, an exhibition which celebrates Hispanic Art and Culture. The exhibition takes place at the ARTSWorcester Gallery at the Aurora, 660 Main Street, Worcester. The Public is invited to view the show and to the Closing/Awards Ceremony on Wednesday, October 26th, also from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. This occasion will feature refreshments and music.

Viva el Arte 2005, a biennial exhibition, began in 1993 as a way of highlighting the wealth of artistic talent which exists within our local Latino Community, Hispanic artists from Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Connecticut are invited to exhibit artwork in all media for this juried event.

Artists included the exhibition are: Arllen Acevedo, Ines Beron, Minerva Cruz Cabrera, Iris Cotto, Maria Florez, Luis Fraire, Iris Lanyon, Juan Leon, Andres Lopez, Juana Pignataro, Ernesto Ponce, Luz Pray, Lionel Reinford, and Julia Vera.

  • Jurors for Viva el Arte 2005 are Susan Stoops and Antonio Fonseca.
  • There will be a closing/awards ceremony on Wednesday, October 26, 2005, 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the ARTSWorcester Gallery at the Aurora, 660 Main Street, Worcester, MA.
  • Prizes: 1st Prize of $250 awarded to Julia Vera; 2nd of $150 to Luis Fraire; and 3rd Prize of $100 to Minerva Cruz Cabrera. Jurors’ Honorable Mention awarded to Ernesto Ponce. The Viewers’ Choice Award is $100 and will be awarded at the closing ceremony.
  • Viva el Arte 2005 will be on view through October 26, 2005.
  • The Gallery and Receptions are free and open to the public.
  • Regular Gallery Hours are: Tuesdays and Saturdays 1:00 to 4:00 p.m., Wednesday, Thursday, and Fridays 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Extended hours available by appointment. The Gallery is closed Sunday and Monday. Call 508-755-5142 for more information or email info@artsworcester.org.
