ARTSWorcester announces the 11th Biennial Exhibition

ARTSWorcester’s BIENNIAL 2005, the 11th Biennial Exhibition, one of the largest juried shows in Central Massachusetts will be held at the ARTSWorcester Gallery at the Aurora and will be on view from April 22 – June 3, 2005. The public is invited to attend the Opening Reception on Friday April 22, 2005 from 6 – 8 pm. BIENNIAL 2005 is sponsored by ARTSWorcester. The Worcester Art Museum has generously donated $2500 in cash prizes from its Hoche-Scofield Scholarship Fund. Davis Publications is a Corporate Sponsor of the event.

We anticipate that hundreds of artists from Central Massachusetts will submit their original work on April 9th to be judged by professional curators Nick Capasso and Alexandra Novina of the DeCordova Museum and Sculpture Park. Works by emerging and established visual artists will be exhibited on both floors of the Aurora Gallery. BIENNIAL 2005 is free and open to the public and will be on exhibit from April 22 until June 3rd.

We hope you will visit BIENNIAL 2005. This widely anticipated exhibition promises to be an exciting survey of regional contemporary art.

Visitors to BIENNIAL 2005 will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite artwork for the Visitors Choice Award to be presented at The Awards Ceremony/Artist Walk Through on June 2nd.

• ARTSWorcester’s BIENNIAL 2005 takes place April 22 – June 3, 2005 at the Aurora Gallery, 660 Main Street, Worcester, MA.
• BIENNIAL 2005 in an opportunity for artists in all stages of their careers from all over Central Massachusetts to have their work judged by outstanding professional curators.
• Artwork on exhibit in BIENNIAL 2005 will represent work in the categories of painting, works on paper/2D mixed media, photography, sculpture/3D mixed media, and crafts.
• Please join us an meet the artists at the Opening Reception for BIENNIAL 2005 April 22, 6 – 8 pm at the ARTSWorcester Gallery at the Aurora, 660 Main Street, Worcester.
• The Awards Ceremony/Artist Walk Through takes place at the ARTSWorcester Gallery on June 2, 2005, 5:30 – 7:30 pm. $2500 in prize money from the Worcester Art Museum and its Hoche-Scofield Scholarship Fund will be awarded to artists in five categories. There will also be a Visitor’s Choice Award.
• Aurora Gallery Hours are: Tuesday 1 – 4pm, Wednesday 10am – 5pm, Thursday 10am – 7pm, Friday 10am – 5pm, Saturday 1 – 4pm.
• The Aurora Gallery is free and open to the public.
