ARTSWorcester is an independent, nonprofit organization, which was created in 1979 by a group of citizens commissioned to assure the future well being of the arts in the Greater Worcester area.
Among the programs and services offered by ARTSWorcester are:
- Advocacy for artists through service on the Board of the Worcester Cultural Coalition, whose purpose is to advance the art and culture agenda
- Leadership efforts through the Arts District Task Force in the creation of an Arts District which will include affordable housing and studios for artists
- Fifteen exhibitions and events per year for literary, performing, and visual artists at both the Quinsigamond Community College (QCC) and Aurora Galleries
- Workshops that offer subjects of interest for working artists
- ARTFiles, a library of visual, literary, and performing artist members' work in slides, written text, or audio/visual formats, for referrals to individual patrons, cultural organizations and institutions, corporations, and businesses
- ARTSWorcester Biennial Exhibition, a major juried art exhibition open to visual artists residing in Central Massachusetts
- ARTcetera our members' newsletter, focusing on issues, opportunities, and news relating to cultural activities

Memberships are renewable annually, at either January 1 or July 1. All memberships and contributions are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law.
